 One feature of watermain
networks is that they cost a lot of money but are soon fortgotten once they
have been completed. However, a watermain network is the greatest asset of any
water-supply system.
While material goods such as houses, furniture, motor vehicles, etc. can be
insured against damage, it is difficult or even impossible to insure a
watermain network. The question is: what price can you put on preventive
measures designed to provide maximum protection from damage to a watermain
network?

detection and early recognition system.
Ortomat® permits the early detection
of leaks at an early stage with a minimum amount of equipment. The smallest
sounds are detected by specially developed vibration sensors and saved in an Ortomat®
transmitter. Ortomat® analyzes the measurements saved and
automatically evaluates them. All the measurements of the most recent 40 days
are transmitted within one second via radio data communication to an Ortomat®
receiver in the passing service vehicle. A message immediately appears on the
display describing the status of that section of the network.
In future, difficult and time-consuming leak-detection
procedures are a thing of the past with this data evaluation system.

Permanent leak monitoring with radio transmission
Data evaluation via a radio receiver and computer
The measurements transmitted by radio are saved in the radio receiver and
immediately displayed in numerical form. After the data has been entered, it
can be transmitted by the radio receiver to the computer where it is available
for graphic evaluation. The measuring points are simply addressed and set to
graphic mode.

 Ortomat® programmed
The Ortomat is programmed using highly
userfriendly software, which runs on standard operating systems
(Win95/98/NT4/ME/XT). In principle, an Ortomat is programmed once and then
installed in the watermain network. Any programming changes to an Ortomat are
transmitted to the radio receiver by pressing a button.
